Job Role - Auxiliary Animal Care

This post would suit someone who is flexible in work hours, with an interest in animals who likes to be hands and work within a small friendly team. Some of the work by its nature will involve manual handling and dealing with animals so the candidate will need to be comfortable with this.

Job overview:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing care to all animals that visit the practise, undertaking activities such as feeding, watering, sanitising, kennel cleaning and observing the health and wellness of the animals.
This is a full time position, with comprising of 37.5 hours (including 1 in 3 Saturday)


The ideal candidate must possess a secondary education as a bare minimum. Previous experience in animal care is desirable but not required.

Additional Qualifications:

Must be able to assume responsibility, work independently, without close supervision, and cooperatively with the qualified nurses and vets. Must be able to carefully follow set by the Animal Welfare Act.

Candidate specification

Due to the busy working environment in the practise, The successful candidate must be able to work independently and work without close supervision. To be effective in this role, applicants must be able to follow internal health and safety procedures, and adhere to all animal safety guidelines.

The successful applicant will have good communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.
